I've only read one of these books and even then it was a long time ago when I was a girl. A favourite of my mam's Anne of Green Gables would be my choice.
I have not read more than one or two of those mentioned, but my favourite is not there. I really love Margaret Laurence´s The Stone Angel. I read it with a class of math students ten years ago, and the boys (19-20 years) were amazed that a book about an old, frail woman could be so good!
Interesting results so far...I'm so surprised that Alice Munro has so few votes. I voted for Montgomery because Anne of Green Gables is just such a wonderful classic...I've read it so many times and I just downloaded a free audio version from librivox.
